Codes identify conditions, not always components
An appliance control can detect that water did not drain in time, temperature did not rise as expected or a sensor signal fell outside range. It often cannot tell whether the cause is a blockage, failed part, damaged wire, installation issue or control fault.
That is why buying a part that resembles the wording of a code can waste money. Diagnosis follows the whole system that could create the detected condition.
Record the complete context
Photograph the display before switching power off. Include letters, leading zeros and flashing indicators. Note the program stage, sounds, water level, recent cleaning or power interruption, and whether the code returns immediately.
Find the full model identifier on the rating plate. The same brand may reuse a code differently across dishwashers, washers, ovens and model generations. Search the official manual for that exact model rather than relying on an unlabelled internet list.
- Exact code and appliance model
- Program and stage where it appeared
- Whether water, heat, cooling or movement changed
- Any leak, smell, noise or electrical trip
- What happened immediately before the fault
Reset once only when the manual permits
A controlled restart can clear a one-off communication or supply interruption, but repeated resets erase context and may keep operating an unsafe appliance. Follow the manufacturer’s user instructions; never bypass locks or protection devices.
For leaks, burning smells, smoke, gas smells, electrical trips or abnormal overheating, stop using the appliance and address safety first. A code guide cannot overrule those warning signs.
Use the guide as a starting point
Our error-code hub groups a small number of common, defensible examples and directs you back to the exact manual when meanings vary. It deliberately avoids large copied lists and obscure guesses.
EPL provides model-specific in-home diagnosis across Sydney. As an authorised agent for 21 brands, we can access manufacturer information and genuine parts pathways. Phone and online quotes are free; service call fees apply on-site.
Important safety note
This guide provides general information, not a model-specific diagnosis. Stop using an appliance that is leaking, smoking, overheating, tripping power or smells of gas or burning. Follow the manufacturer’s manual and emergency guidance.
